Pre-Award Functions

• Identify funding opportunities
• Assisting with understanding solicitation guidelines
• Development of proposal budgets
• Give review and feedback on proposals before submission
• Review proposals for institutional & sponsor rules and compliance
• Submit proposals
• Proposal record retention
• Review, negotiate, and accept award terms & conditions
• Provide PI resources to assist with research plan documents
• Provide PI resources to assist with proposal supporting documents

Important Policy:

• ORSP requires submittal of Proposal Request Form in Cayuse at least 30 calendar days prior to the grant due date. (See the “Cayuse” section of the website for detailed submission information.)
• The PI must have all requested proposal information to the ORSP Award Specialist and approvals from the PI’s Dean and Department Chair at least seven (7) calendar days in advance of the grant due date.

Post-Award Functions

• Set up awards in Banner system
• Assure regulatory compliance (IRB, IACUC, etc.)
• Process personnel documents
• Initiate, execute, and close completed subcontract
• Preview and approve subcontract invoices
• Prepare programmatic and scientific progress reports
• Monitor and review budget for preparing quarterly statements
• Provide feedback and budgetary guidance when providing quarterly statements
• Initiate, review, and approve cost transfers
• Initiate requests for grant modifications
• Submit modification requests to sponsor after ORSP approval
• Submit financial status reports and invoices to funding agency
• Submit programmatic reports to funding agency
• Complete grant closeout
